Sholom Aleichem Club Members
Reflect on their Association with the Club

The Sholom Aleichem Club has not only provided a venue for members to express their Jewishness, celebrate the holidays in a Secular way, and to be stimulated by cultural and political programs. It has been friendships, social bonds that have lasted for decades. Whether members have been part of the Club for 50 years or 10, they have gained a special connection that they wouldn’t trade for anything. The Club is family and everyone shares the naches (joy, thrill) of another member’s achievement, the marriage of each other’s children, birth of grandchildren, and family accomplishments. Each month, the newsletter, News and Comment, has a column, News of the Mishpocha, which means “News of the Family.” Unfortunately, they also mourn the loss of fellow members. Every Yom Kippur, there is a board listing the passing of former members.

A 50th anniversary is a time of celebration, though, and over the last several months, News and Comment has been running profiles of members or reflections by members of what the Club has meant to them. We re-run them below.
